Pace in Venice, Narrow Way Oil on Canvas | 24" x 16" During the spring of 2003 my late wife, Bettine, and I went to Italy. Before we left for Italy people asked if we weren't worried about anti-American feelings generated but Bush’s Iraq war. We weren't and we experienced none but we did see a lot of antiwar and anti-Bush signs and graffiti wherever we went. And there were peace flags. There were so many peace (PACE) flags, hanging from balconies and scaffolding and flying on flag polls that it was a rare street where we couldn't see at least one. That inspired me to paint a series of oil paintings of Venice: PACE in Venice.
